I always feel like I have to write something profound, in order to validate my existance as a writer. I'm continually worrying about spelling, grammar, sentence structure. I find myself editing nearly everything I read, picking it apart to the last punctuation mark.

I suppose that's the sign of a true writer. Someone who can't get the ideas out of their head until they get it down on paper (or on a computer screen). I tend to find myself spacing out at work as I come up with new poetry, or new plotlines for stories that have yet to be published.

I constantly compare myself to fellow writers, hoping to pick up some tidbits of wisdom and add them to my mental scrapbook. Sometimes I'm my own worst critic, but then again, isn't everyone?

I worry about my writing. I read and re-read, always asking "Is it good enough?" But I've come to realize that the question should be, "Does it mean something to me?" And if it does, then it will always be good enough.
